Master Mandrag
“The University's Master Alchemist who taught Auri”
also known as Mandrag
Appearance§
Mandrag is a senior arcanist of the Arcanum, an elderly, experienced Master who sits among the Masters at the masters' table during admissions, lectures, and disciplinary proceedings.
Description§
Master Mandrag is one of the Masters of the University, holding the chair of alchemy as Master Alchemist. He sits at the masters' table and participates in the Arcanum's governance and disciplinary votes; during the vote concerning Kvothe's whipping he keeps his hand down. He is the arcanist who taught Auri alchemy before she withdrew into the Underthing, and she explicitly names him as the person from whom she learned the craft.
