Description§
A crucible is a heat-resistant vessel used in alchemical work at the University, into which substances are placed for heating, mixing, and distillation. Simmon employs one while demonstrating alchemy to Kvothe. The image of a crucible also describes Caesura: as though an alchemist had distilled a dozen swords, leaving the pure form lying cooled in the bottom.
