Named Fae father of Bast, Prince of Twilight

Appearance§

Remmen is depicted as a faerie and is decidedly male. He resembles Arliden, Kvothe's father, but does not share Kvothe's distinctive red hair. He is shown at a pagan ritual in the woods, set within the wild, twilight-court aesthetic of the Fae.

Description§

Remmen is a figure of the Fae and the named father of Bast. When Kvothe introduces Bast to Chronicler in the thirteenth chapter of The Name of the Wind, he calls him "Bastas, son of Remmen, Prince of Twilight and the Telwyth Mael," placing Remmen within the Fae and its Twilight court. As Lord of Twilight, Remmen is associated with the realm of Twilight and the Telwyth Mael. Beyond his titles in the prose, Remmen appears as the second card of the Fae in the official Pairs deck, where he is rendered as a faerie attending a pagan ritual in the woods.
