Kvothe Will Make His True Confession About the Chandrian to Puppet
Puppet, a likely secret Amyr living beneath the Archives, is the one person Kvothe will finally confide in about the Chandrian.

The theory§
This theory identifies Puppet as the one person to whom Kvothe will finally speak openly about the Chandrian. Puppet dwells in the deep Archives, between the ruins of the old University and the four-plate door, and surrounds himself with lit candles; when Kvothe presses near genuine secrets, the seeming madman gives way to sudden lucid authority, the same clarity Kvothe notes in Elodin. This places Puppet within the long-standing reading that he is a hidden Amyr, watching the Archives from the shadows. His parting instruction, that Wil and Sim bring Kvothe back to him, signals a deliberate ongoing interest rather than idle whimsy. Because Kvothe guards his Chandrian secret out of fear for his reputation, a confessor almost wholly sealed off from the wider world, and uncannily able to read the truth in others, makes Puppet the natural keeper of it. A further thread proposes the candles are a deliberate early-warning system, since flame burns blue in the Chandrian's presence, and that Puppet's challenge, 'You seem so certain of it,' hints he knows Kvothe's identity is shakier than Kvothe believes.
Evidence§
it has been hinted at on multiple occasions that, eventually, Kvothe is going to speak candidly with someone close in his life regarding the Chandrian. He thinks about it with Denna and with Wil/Sim. I believe, however, that he is going to make his confession to Puppet.
OP's core claim: the eventual confidant for the Chandrian secret is Puppet. — u/runyaden23We all have read the Puppet-Amyr theories. Personally, I can't see another explanation for the fire and his placement between the ruins of the old university and the four plate door.
Grounds Puppet as a hidden Amyr via his fire and location. — u/runyaden23I couldn't help but notice the sudden clarity and sanity in Puppet when Kvothe asks about the Door, it's the same sort of clarity that Kvothe remarks in Elodin (another purported member of Amyr).
The madman's lucidity near secrets mirrors Elodin, a suspected Amyr. — u/runyaden23Just as Elodin did when Kvothe asked him, the instant reaction was a shift in Puppet's tone. He is now showing his mental "teeth" to Kvothe. "Do not step here," he says … "now understand that you are not ready yet."
Puppet guards real secrets and signals Kvothe isn't yet ready to know. — u/runyaden23Puppet remarks to Wil/Sim: "I'm not done with this one, bring him back to me" is blatant
Puppet's parting line shows deliberate ongoing interest in Kvothe. — u/runyaden23Kvothe is also extremely concerned about his reputation, and this is why he does not tell anyone … Well who better to tell these inner secrets to than a person who has very little interaction with the outer world, as well as someone who has demonstrated the ability to easily see the truth in others.
Adds motive: a sealed-off truth-reader is the ideal confessor. — u/Remote-Sky-7890Aren't there lit candles in Puppet's office? Might the reason be so that if the Chandrian come near he'll get a warning (blue flame)?
Refines theory: candles as a Chandrian early-warning system. — u/Sysheen"I am Kvothe." "You seem so certain of it." … the entire book revolves around Kvothe's assumptions, misapprehensions, and misplaced beliefs.
Puppet's challenge hints he sees Kvothe's identity as shakier than Kvothe believes. — u/taborlyn13the hints you refer to are actually explanations why he will never speak the truth. Because true friends know without being told.
CounterCounter: the hints argue Kvothe never confesses at all. — u/Imaterd005Except Kvothe isn't close to Puppet. He's only met him once if I remember correctly.
CounterCounter: Kvothe and Puppet barely know each other. — u/Toes14
