Wilem is a full-blooded Ceald with a ruddy complexion, dark hair, and dark eyes, his voice thick with the harsh burr of a Siaru accent. He is consistently the dark figure of the trio, contrasted with light-haired Simmon. His presence registers more through manner than through fine detail: reserved, watchful, 'a stone in deep water.'

Wilem, called Wil, is one of Kvothe's two closest friends at the University, alongside Simmon. He is a full-blooded Ceald, marked by a ruddy complexion, dark hair and eyes, and a thick Siaru accent that makes his dry sarcasm hard to parse. He readily believes in things others dismiss, including Cealdish sky spirits, faeries, and the Fae.
