Modeg is one of the major nations of Temerant, counted among the four corners of civilization alongside Ceald, the Aturan Empire, the Commonwealth, and Vintas. It is ruled by its own monarch, the Modegan King, and its royal line is the longest in recorded history. Modegan culture is strikingly open about sexuality, standing in sharp contrast to repressed Aturan attitudes, a difference embodied by the Modegan noble Sovoy, who moves easily among the highest tiers of society. Modeg borders the Eld and lies near Vintas and Tinue, and the route from the Eld to Ademre passes through it. Kvothe carries a single Modegan strelum among his possessions. The Modegan branch of the splintered Lackless line is the Kaepcaen.
