Rethe's Poem Was Her Name, and Alaxel Is Three Names Bound Together
Deep Names can be sung as four lines; Rethe's dueling poem was her Name, and Haliax is a nested binding of three.
Also involves: Felurian, Iax, Lyra, The Lethani, The Lackless Box, The Adem, The Moon, Pale Alaxel, Kvothe, Selitos, Aethe
The theory§
When Kvothe duels Felurian he sings out her Name as four lines of a song, establishing that a deep Name can be uttered as a brief verse. From this the theory reads Rethe's contest with Aethe anew: standing on the hilltop against the open sky, Rethe answers Aethe's challenge with four lines of poetry that are in truth her own Name, which Aethe receives with his perfect ears, writes down, and keeps inside the teachings that become the Lethani, the root of all Ademre. This parallels Jax, who steals the moon's name at the highest peak and seals it in 'the emptiest thing,' an iron box meant for keeping things inside. The theory then proposes a binding mechanism: a lover can fold a dying partner's Name into their own to keep them from passing the final door, the plea 'stay with me, don't leave me' made literal, which is why Lanre is dragged back from death. Nesting these bindings, Lyra holds Lanre, Iax in turn traps Lyra, so that Pale Alaxel is three Names bound together, and opening Jax's box, identified with the Lackless box, would sever the tether and at last let the bound one die.
Evidence§
Kvothe duels Felurian and sings out her Name, establishing that deep Names can be sung out as four lines of a song.
Foundational premise: a deep Name can be uttered as four lines of verse. — u/Healthy_Green8038Rethe stood at the top of a hill, her outline clear against the naked sky. They duel. She writes four lines of poetry. It was her Name.
Core claim: Rethe's four-line dueling poem was her Name. — u/Healthy_Green8038She gave her Name to Aethe, and he listened with perfect ears, wrote it down and kept it inside the Lethani.
Aethe recorded her Name, which became the root of the Lethani. — u/Healthy_Green8038Ludis gave Jax her name at the highest peak, pale and round and beautiful. He trapped her Name inside "the emptiest thing you've ever heard, meant for keeping things inside". The First Silence, an "iron" box.
Parallel: Jax steals the moon's name at a peak and seals it in an iron box. — u/Healthy_Green8038Two lovers, one dies, and the other uses their own Name to bind them together. "Stay with me".
Proposed mechanism: a lover folds a dying partner's Name into their own. — u/Healthy_Green8038So Iax traps Lyra, who trapped Lanre. There's the Russian nesting doll. Alaxel is three Names bound together.
Conclusion: nested bindings make Alaxel/Haliax three Names in one. — u/Healthy_Green8038If he frees Lyra then he frees himself?
Refinement: opening the box would unbind Lyra and release Haliax to die. — u/Frydog42I love when people get creative but in most parts here I can't follow what's going on. … I don't know what you mean.
CounterCounter: a commenter finds the reasoning chain unclear and hard to follow. — u/Sterogon

Tier reasoning§
no change; speculative nested-Name binding mechanism, fringe is correct
