Fela is dark-haired and curvaceous, reputed to be the prettiest girl in the Commonwealth, a beauty Kvothe describes admiringly even while under the influence of the plum bob. She is poised and notably intelligent, her competence in the Archives and quiet command of the Name of Stone marking her as more capable than her friendly, sociable demeanour first suggests.

Description§

Fela is a scriv in the University Archives and one of Kvothe's close friends. An arcanist of the rank Re'lar, she is among the few in Kvothe's circle shown working real magic: she calls the Name of Stone, and Elodin formally advances her when she demonstrates true control of her first Name. She is reputed to be one of the great beauties of the Commonwealth and becomes romantically involved with Simmon, whose regard she begins to return after he recites an Eld Vintic poem for her. Modegan by birth, she is knowledgeable about the vast holdings of the Archives, which number over three quarters of a million volumes. Kvothe rescues her from a fire in the Fishery, and she later discovers the schema for the gram that Kvothe builds and wears on his wrist. She is also the friend he turns to after finding a hidden back way into the Archives.
