fringe identity · popularity 220 · 1 source thread

Bredon as Master Ash uses Denna to harvest Kvothe's name so Iax can be freed and a war begun across Temerant and the Fae.

About: Bredon, Cinder, Kvothe

Also involves: Denna, Iax, Haliax, The Doors of Stone, The Lackless Box, Chronicler, The Chandrian, Naming, Sympathy, Waystone Inn, Bast, Roderick Calanthis, Illian Bloodline

The theory§

This theory weaves several threads into one grand design: Bredon is secretly Master Ash, cultivating Denna in order to harvest Kvothe's name because Kvothe carries the combined blood of Illian and Iax. King Roderick Calanthis is secretly Cinder, which is why Kvothe lives in hiding under a changed name. Kvothe's final aim is to both free Lanre from his ancient curse and re-seal Iax behind the Doors of Stone, a working so powerful that only a singing Namer of his particular lineage could perform it. He opens the thrice-locked chest by releasing the sympathy that suppresses his name, an act that also alerts Iax and Haliax, retrieves his lute, and channels the working through the Waystone Inn at the cost of his life, with Chronicler present because he foresaw this as the last chance to record Kvothe's true story and warning about the Chandrian.

Evidence§

  • Bredon is master ash trying to start a civil war both in temerant and the fae. He is using denna to get kvothes name since he has both the blood of illian and iax
Core claim: Bredon=Master Ash harvests Kvothe's name via Denna for his lineageu/aww_jeez_my_man
  • hes going to use kvothe to free iax and kill Roderick calathis, who is secretly also cinder. That is why he is in hiding, and he changed his name.
King Roderick is Cinder, explaining why Kvothe hides under a changed nameu/aww_jeez_my_man
  • his goal is to free lanre of his ancient curse and at the same time seal iax once again behind the doors of stone, but to do that he needs strong magic. Such stong magic that only a singing namer with the blood of illian and iax could do it.
Kvothe's true aim and why only his lineage can perform the workingu/aww_jeez_my_man
  • He opens the thrice locked chest by stopping the sympathy blocking his name, which also alerts iax and haliax, but in the chest is his lute.
Mechanism: unblocking his name opens the chest, recovers the lute, alerts enemiesu/aww_jeez_my_man
  • Kvothe we know is descended from iax, because of the Lackless family, and they have the lackless box. The box sounds like it might have stones in them, which is backed up by the lackless rhyme (in a box no lid or locks, lackless keeps her husbands rocks).
OP backs the Iax-blood claim via the Lackless family and box rhymeu/aww_jeez_my_man
  • the silence of three parts is what’s locking the thrice locked chest (each silence is a lock). However - I don’t believe it’s his lute alone in the chest, but rather a piece of his name. Maybe the lute represents that piece, or he attached it to the lute.
Refines the chest mechanism: three silences are the locks, name-piece insideu/TeamAuri
  • I agree with everything but Selitos. The Chathe existed at the time of the creation war. And selitos is not iax.
    CounterCounters OP's Selitos=Iax identification on timeline groundsu/Zealousideal_Belt650
  • “Chronicler was there cuz he knew” Wasn’t Bast the one to call the Chronicler there?
CounterCounters the claim that Chronicler came of his own foreknowledgeu/Nitrozy
