Myr Tariniel
“The shining mountain city destroyed by Lanre, namesake of the Amyr”
Appearance§
Myr Tariniel is a shining mountain city carved of bright white stone that held the sun's light long after evening, the most beautiful and unscarred of the cities, protected by the surrounding peaks. It is associated with a flaming, ever-burning tower, and is said to sit among two tall mountains, one bearing the city itself and another from which Selitos watched over it. In the present day it lies in ruins, its citizens slaughtered.
Description§
Myr Tariniel is one of the great cities of the ancient Ergen Empire and, in Skarpi's telling, the greatest and most beautiful of them, the only one left unscarred by the long Creation War. It was carved of bright white stone that held the sun's light long after evening, set high atop a mountain and protected by the surrounding peaks and brave soldiers, and is associated with a flaming, ever-burning tower. It was ruled by Selitos, who watched over it. Late in the Creation War, Lanre, who became Haliax, betrayed the city and led the Chandrian to slaughter its people and burn it. From a vantage high in the mountains, Selitos One-Eye saw the plumes of dark smoke rise from its destruction. He then begged Aleph for the power to confound Lanre and the Chandrian who had killed the innocent and burned his beloved Myr Tariniel, and named his new order the Amyr in memory of the ruined city. Of the empire's cities, only the name Tariniel survives. The waystones once led to Myr Tariniel.
